Who Qualifies?

Anybody who has a UK pension scheme who is either leaving the UK or currently living abroad can now transfer all existing pension provisions into a QROPS (Qualifying Overseas Recognised Pension Scheme).

A wide variety of UK pensions can be passed over into a QROPS. These include personal pensions, occupational pensions, pensions in drawdown, Stakeholder pensions, SIPP's, SSAS and pensions used for contracting-out of SERPS. Some Final Salary schemes can also be transferred if you have not begun drawing benefits from it.

Even if you have more than one pension scheme then you can also transfer several pension schemes into just one QROPS, which makes keeping track of your retirement far simpler and reduce your overall charges and costs.

Please note that not all schemes can be transferred.

The UK State Pension cannot be transferred.
